When I Died

Words and Music by Hugh Prestwood

When I died, it was very clear
And the stars that rose above me
They were very near
And I said goodbye to Barbara
But she couldn’t hear…
Goodbye…

Now I live in the Milky Way
I can leap a thousand light years in a single day
And laying out a sunrise is a game I play

And God is a friend of mine
Once or twice he’s even had me in to dine
And I ask him, “How’s my family?”
And he says, “They’re fine…
They’re fine”

All alone, I recall I cried
When I asked God where was Heaven
And he only sighed
And he told me I was living there before I died
