Mistakes were made
They gave an order, I obeyed
That’s just the way the game is played
Shortsighted greed and ego on parade
Well, it was all OK’d
A lot of people got paid
And a few of them got played
But this time we got caught, because
Mistakes were made

I was caught in the act
My computer was hacked
I said some things I’d like to retract…
But it’s all a lie, an alternative fact
Now the mirror is cracked
I need to delay and distract
Lies are great for making people afraid

I’ll never say that I made a mistake
I’ll never talk about the laws I break
You’ve got bread and water, well, I’ll eat steak
You think I’m a tiger, but I’m really a snake
I know you don’t see it, but I’m really a snake…

Mistakes were made
I was only trying to make the grade
I got all these taxes to evade
A few more kickbacks, I’ll be made in the shade
But some traps were laid
And now my nerves are frayed
I can’t confirm or deny the part I played…
All I can say is…

Listen to the sound of my outraged voice
I’ll make you do what I want, you’ll think that it was your choice
You’ve got holes in your shoes, I’ve got my Rolls Royce
But you know at heart I’m really just one of the boys
