Sailor’s Song

Words and music by Christopher Kent

You and I are both a part of something
A part of galleries of living hung in space
A path across the stars will be our journey
And other distant worlds will be our resting place
Out beyond the borders in the emptiness
Beauty dances like a carousel
Do not despair
‘Cause you know time is going to take us there
We will survive
We will survive

You and I are both a part of something
Endless lives unfolding underneath that starry sky
We have known each other for ten thousand years or more
And we will know each other, by and by
Even in the darkest hours of loneliness
Life is born that never fades away
Do not despair
‘Cause you know time is going to take us there
We will survive
We will survive

Once I was a sailor and I sailed upon the sea
I measured by the sunset and a cargo full of tea
I drifted with the currents and I slept beneath the tar
And I waited for salvation and the early evening star
Now I have been a lonely man and I have been a dreamer
Lost at sea like a holy man in search of a redeemer
But the sky is filled with diamonds, and the wind was filled with sails
And I waited for an ocean where a warmer wind prevails

You and I are both are part of something
We will see the oceans and the stars
Do not despair
‘Cause you know time is going to take us there
We will survive
We will survive
