Is This a Test?
Words and Music by Christopher Kent
Some days it seems like the world is on fire
I chase after answers, but I always find a liar
I’d probably sell my soul, but I can’t find a buyer
It’s like dancing in the shadows while I’m walking on a wire
Is this a test?
You know I’m doing my best
Is this a test?
Some days I get so depressed
And I’m never quite sure if I’m cursed or I’m blessed …
This must be a test
Now fate don’t pick favorites, and it don’t hold a grudge
But I’m caught between a rock and a hard place that won’t budge
I’m waiting for the universe to give me a nudge
If it does, is it coincidence? You be the judge …
Is this a test?
You know I’m doing my best
Is this a test?
Or some great cosmic quest?
I’m never quite sure if I’m cursed or I’m blessed ….
This must be a test
Some people achieve renown
And everybody watches their ups and downs
Others never break through the noise
They’re just one of the girls or one of the boys
This must be a test
Sometimes I feel like everything’s absurd
In a world full of shouters, it’s hard to be heard
I may not come in first, or even second or third,
But I don’t know why respect is such a dirty word
Is this a test?
You know I’m doing my best
Is this a test?
Am I appropriately dressed?
I’m never quite sure if I’m cursed or I’m blessed…
This must be a test
