Heavy Weather
Words and music by Christopher Kent
Darkness on the edge of the sky, wind blowing cold and deep
Reaching out for shelter in a restless sleep
Earthquake lights, Saint Elmo’s fire, fever in the sky
Wheel of fortune gone full circle
 Mother Earth’s reply
How did it all begin?
Looks like heavy weather’s rolling in
Everybody’s worried ‘bout the next thing to occur
Reaching our for safety in the way things were
But there is no intermission, and everything’s unreal
Too many hungry children waiting for a meal
How did it all begin?
Looks like heavy weather’s rolling in
We’ve got to make it through this darkness
Not give in to doubt and fear
We’ve got to trust that there’s a reason
And from the ashes of the old, something better will appear
Things that seemed immovable are crumbling into clay
We’re finding out we should not borrow more than we can pay
Now I look outside my window—
I could swear it’s judgment day
How did it all begin?
Looks like heavy weather’s rolling in
