Fool (for Love)
Words and Music by Christopher Kent
The first time I saw you I thought love was in store
It turned out to be love and a whole lot more
There was trouble in paradise, reason was missing —
Replaced by two optimists grabbing and kissing
Now love can be cruel, its effects quite insidious
We had a lot of fun, but the outcome was hideous
You broke my heart, but I never would pity it
Love made me a fool—but I’m not an idiot!
I found you amazing, you thought I was hot
We were doomed from the start, but we gave it a shot
You seemed enticing, my interest was piqued
My spirit was willing, but my flesh, it was freaked …
Our love was intensive, it seemed copasetic
Turned out to be expensive and truly pathetic
You broke my heart, but I never would pity it
Love made me a fool—but I’m not an idiot!
Now when it comes to matters pertaining to Cupid
I try to be kind; I try not to be stupid
 ‘Cause love can be a dud, or nuclear fission;
But no matter how crazy it gets
It’s almost always worth the price of admission
Things did not go quite the way that I planned
We made some choices it’s hard to understand
We thought we might be one of those great romances
But when you fall in love, you take your chances
Now I should have seen where it all was headed
But we had so much fun that’s it hard to regret it.
You broke my heart, but I never would pity it
Love made me a fool—but I’m not an idiot!
