Desert Rain

Words and Music by Christopher Kent

Last night I stepped into the future
A crystal world I’d never seen before
Where cities floated in a clear blue sky
A stranger’s face wasn’t strange anymore
People knew the way it feels to be different
To be inside a different skin
And all the unforgiven words and deeds
Were just a part of who we’d been

Chorus:
Sometimes I think that it will take a miracle
To build a world that love and trust will sustain
But we’ve been walking through the desert
Praying for water
And soon it’s going to rain

I dreamed of walking through a quiet town
Houses spread across a forest floor
And in a flash I knew the feeling
Of living life behind that stranger’s door
They understood the reasons and the passions
That shape the mind and soul and heart
And there was no more fear or anger
To keep us apart

[Chorus]

Bridge:
It’s easy to forget all the good we have inside us
To focus on our differences and let our anger guide us
But our journey soon will lead us to a very different place
Where we’ll see ourselves in every face
In every face

Chorus:
Now you may think that it will take a miracle
To build a world that love and trust will sustain
But we’ve been walking through the desert
Praying for water
And soon it’s going to rain
